![]() When we got the expression sheet packet from the visdev department, we noticed that the filmmakers only wanted the teeth visible on the camera-facing side of her beak in order to maintain clean profiles. On one side of her beak she has two teeth, and on the other side she has just one tooth. ![]() This is about twice the number compared to most of the other characters in the film. Zeta’s animation rig has over 1,200 controls for her face, and over 600 controls for her body. Zeta has over 8.4 million hairs, and over 700 feathers. On Zeta’s wings and tail we have a majority of feathers versus hair, but on her torso it’s all hair. On most of the bird characters we have a base layer of hair, and then the feathers are added as accents. This feature gave the animators a fun element to work with as far as how her body moves. Additionally, Zeta has a very long and noodle-like torso. This allowed for some shearing so that she was able to move her mouth as much as the animators desired, but not have her mane move up and down in a distracting way. Our solution involved adding some geometry spans in between the corners of the mouth and the first growth point of the long feathers. So, from the artwork to the final model and design, we had to make a few compromises to make it work for animation. With the original design, what was going to happen as Zeta was emoting – let’s say either talking or going from a smile to a frown – the hair and feathers attached to that area near her mouth would move up and down a lot and likely be very distracting. Our first instinct in looking at the artwork was that we’d have to come up with a creative solution. Stirling Duguid: The initial 2D artwork for Zeta, provided by production designer Pete Oswald, had her with a mane of hair and feathers which started directly around her face, almost attached to her eyeballs and her beak. ![]() He’s only used in Angry Birds Space, my favorite Bird in AB Space, the only bird that Rovio hasn’t named yet.R. The first bird to be introduced in… 5 months as of March 2012. One of the least used characters in Angry Birds Space, He/She needs to be used more often than a bonus level/power-up. Not to mention the only pig on this list. Now here’s an obscure character, he’s based off of Tiny Tim from a Christmas Carol, he was only used in the Christmas web comic that can be read here on Angry Birds Nest. What it says on the tin, the Mighty Eagle in space. He’s only used in the Year of the Dragon on Angry Birds Seasons and he’s for free! Only unlike Mighty Eagle he does a loop-de-loop instead of bouncing. (maybe not because I feel like his eyes are piercing into my soul) He’s basically a more hairy version of Terence, he’s only used in Angry Birds Seasons and Rovio isn’t updating that anymore so… He needs to make a comeback. I’m cheating again, this time because I just couldn’t pick one, they’re all practically unused at this point because AB Stella was discontinued and Stella POP Became Angry Birds Pop. How could this have happened? Hal was one of the first 7 birds! I feel like Rovio has been undermining how much potential he has as a character, his only major role in an animation wasn’t even Angry Birds Toons! It was in the Summer Pignic short! Anyone else think we need to start a petition to bring him back along with the PC games?Īlright, while his usage may be dictated by dealings with the NHL and the like, that can’t stop us from wanting more of him! Here is a top 10 of all the characters I wish to see make a return in the future:Īll right, I know I’m technically cheating here but In Angry Birds Rio they were chained to each other so they count as one, after you’ve launched them Jewel will charge forward after you’ve tapped, making them the first bird(s) to travel in a straight line. With the AB cast being so robust it’s sometimes hard to believe there were just 5 birds at some point in history.
